Vilas County Woman's Cause of Death Ruled 'Undetermined'

The Vilas County Sheriff's Department has released new information about the death Sandra Schinke, 55. Schinke was reported missing April 6, 2012 from her Plum Lake area home. Her body was found September 19, 2013 by a hunter near a snowmobile trail in the Northern Highland State Forest.

Lt. Carl Gauger said there was no trauma to Schinke's body. Her glasses were intact and her jewelry was not missing indicating no sign of foul play. Lt. Gauger also said there were no penetration wounds to the body.

He said based on the condition of the body Schinke would have died around the time she was reported missing.

Investigator have closed the case simply because they have nothing left to test. Schinke's preliminary cause of death and matter of death are both 'undetermined'.
