Hundreds of mourning family members and friends are remembering the two 12-year-olds killed in the rollover crash on Friday. Reighlee Stevenson and Deserae Landowski lost their lives that day. But their loved ones are remembering, and healing.
"I miss her greatly. Goodbye Reighlee."
Tears of sadness and sorrow filled Wausau's 400 block Monday night.
"Its hard for all of us. So just... carry on..."
But another message was that of remembrance, and hope.
"To celebrate my granddaughter's death and her passing on, and to get along with all the people," Deb Landowski said, "to share Desy's memories, and all the things that she has loved in her life, This is a new beginning for her. I'm going to miss her..."
Deb Landowski is mourning the loss of her grand-daughter, Deserae. Deserae and Reighlee Stevenson were killed after the SUV they were in lost control and rolled several times in the Town of Easton, northeast of Wausau.
Deserae's grandmother says, she's taking things one day at a time.
"I never thought it would happen, but I'll worry about it later. I have to stand strong for my whole entire family. I'll have my moments," Deb said.
She hopes Monday's vigil won't be the end of mourning, but the beginning of a celebration of her grand-daughter's life.
"I want these kids to come and share, and celebrate, Desy's new life."
