LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- La Crosse police are investigating some acts of vandalism during the opening weekend of the city's annual Oktoberfest celebration.

Two or more vehicles were flipped upside down by vandals in the area around the university campus.

Pamela Strittmater is president of the La Crosse Area Apartment Association. Strittmater tells the La Cross Tribune she saw a car flipped and witnessed other vandalism throughout the night Saturday, including damage to landscaping.

The nine-day Oktoberfest began last Friday. Organizers have decided to trim the festival to four days next year.
