Bears are often a common sight across North Central Wisconsin, but rarely do you see them in urban areas.
Over the past week though, that has actually become a common sight.
Just last night a bear was seen roaming through a Wisconsin Rapids neighborhood.
Over the weekend one was spotted near the Marathon County Courthouse. While bears are often scared of humans, they can pose a risk if they are provoked.
The DNR says they have a system in place to deal with bears if they wander into the city limits.
"Problem bears are referred to the Department of Agriculture. They can, if its a truly problem bear, put a barrel trap out and take them to a more remote area of the state." says DNR Warden Scott Thiede.
The DNR says bears often make their way into cities like Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids due to their proximity to a major river.
