Union members celebrated the contributions of our country's workers Monday. Many in Wausau walked in the Labor Day parade down N. 3rd Ave. to honor the history of the labor movement.

"Today it brings a lot of meaning because we're all workers, whether we belong to organized labor or we don't," said John Spiegelhoff.

Spiegelhoff walked in the parade with the North Central Labor Coalition and the labor union AFSCME for the second year in a row.

"This is a day to recognize those who have died in the workplace and to recognize that workers are profit creators," he said. "They're here to raise a family, to have a good, thriving middle class and to expect a good wage for their work."

Hundreds of people set up chairs to watch the more than 50 groups come by.
