A new study from a non-profit agency ranks UW-Stevens Point and UW-Eau Claire among the top 50 schools in the nation in its outcome-based college rankings.

The study, performed by Educate To Career, analyzed data from more than 1,200 colleges. They ranked the schools based on the quality of the students when they entered college, the total costs related to attending that college and the outcomes of students when they entered the work force. UWSP came in 34th out of 50 and UW- Eau Claire came in 47th.

In 2012, UWSP had a 92 percent placement rate. That means 92 percent of the students that graduated that year either found jobs after graduation or went on to further schooling.

Associate Director of Career Services for UWSP, Lorry Walters, says placement post-graduation depends on students having a clear direction throughout college.

"I think kind of pacing yourself, not waiting until the last semester or the last year to start your job search and begin thinking about what am I doing here."

Walter's attributes UWSP's success to engaged faculty, internship and externship programs and a robust schedule of programs and outreach activities.

UW-Stevens Point will graduate their largest class on Saturday. More than 1,400 students will receive their diplomas. Walter's says if your graduating this year or not, you may want to stop by career services and pick up a career planning guide.

The career services office is open to any UWSP student, graduated or not.
