For the 27th straight year, vocal students from the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County (UWMC) will be raising their voices this Valentine’s Day season and putting smiles on the faces and in the hearts of people from throughout the Wausau area.
For a fee of $20, members of UWMC’s Concert Choir will be available to deliver Singing Valentines on Thursday, February 13 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday, February 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Songs can be performed in a variety of locations, including homes, businesses, schools and restaurants. The sender has a choice of two songs from this selection:
•Let Me Call You Sweetheart
•When I Fall in Love
•Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree
•Tell Me Why
•They Can’t Take That Away From Me
Since the program began in 1987, UWMC music students have delivered approximately 2,500 Singing Valentines. Proceeds from their efforts have been used to support Music Department programs, including equipment repair and student scholarships.
“Our students are excited to deliver Singing Valentines to members of the Wausau community,” said Timothy Buchholz, assistant professor of Music at UWMC. “It’s a great way for them to share their talents and love of music with others on Valentine’s Day.”
To reserve a Singing Valentine, send an e-mail to Buchholz at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 715-261-6246 and ask about Singing Valentines. Place your order by Friday, February 7 for the best selection of times.
