UWM Alums Especially Excited For Badger's Final Four Achievement

At the very last second, Kentucky made the extra point, ending Wisconsin's journey to the Finals. Before that, Wisconsin fans all over the state were very hopeful and excited that they even made it to the Final Four, but for University of Wisconsin Madison alumni, the fact that they made as far as they did, means something a little bit more.

"When I went there, I graduated in '85, there really wasn't a lot of great sports, a little bit with the football, some with the hockey, but right now as a Badger fan, to have the basketball team be this good, it's awesome," said UWM alum, Greg Strasser.

The Wausau area alone has about 3,000 former Badger students. Some of those who are members of the Wisconsin Alumni Association decided to celebrate this achievement and came together at The Bar in Rothschild. They bonded as forever Badgers since they could not make it to the game.

"This is the next best thing, being with a bunch of alumni here and having a good time and celebrating it," Strasser said.

"There's really something special about being a badger at the University of Wisconsin and I just love it it's exciting," said Wisconsin Alumni Association Wausau Chapter President, Mike Moran.

Both Moran and Strasser have sons that currently attend UW Madison. They said they plan on living vicariously through them in Madison during this exciting time.

"I'm hoping that when they win tonight that he'll probably be out on State Street so I hope I don't see him on TV tonight rushing State Street like they did last week," said Moran.

Strasser said, "whether they win or lose, it's an awesome night to be a Badger fan."

Moran said, today all of Wisconsin is allowed to be a Badger.
