MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The University of Wisconsin-Extension's interim provost will take over as chancellor on an interim basis, replacing the current chancellor who's been named to head the entire UW System.
UW System officials say Aaron Brower has agreed to serve as the interim chancellor of UW Colleges and UW-Extension starting February 15. The appointment, announced Friday, is subject to approval by the UW System's board of regents next month.
Brower will replace Ray Cross, who was named the UW System president last week.
Brower has held executive positions at UW-Madison, where he also taught classes on educational innovations.
He's expected to serve as interim chancellor until a full-time replacement for Cross is found. Regents are currently developing a plan for the recruitment process.
