US Sex Abuse Lawsuit Against Vatican Dismissed

Lawyers for a man who was sexually abused decades ago by a priest at a Wisconsin school for the deaf have asked a court to dismiss their lawsuit naming Pope Benedict XVI and other top Vatican officials as defendants.

Attorney Jeff Anderson filed the lawsuit in 2010, claiming former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and his deputies knew about allegations of sexual abuse at the school and protected the priest from punishment. Anderson's firm filed a motion Friday in Milwaukee to dismiss the case. He says the main thing he was seeking was information and accountability, and he's already received 30,000 pages of revealing documents through bankruptcy proceedings of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Vatican attorney Jeffrey Lena calls the explanation "ridiculous." He says it's confirmation the lawsuit should never have been filed.

Mark if you are a catholic, you need to clean your doorstep off first! You all need to handle your problem before accusing others. This must happen to help those young boys. Why do you not see the church needs to take responsiblity? This is sad! Why attack others if your group is not without sin?

How about a lawsuit against the public school system. The Catholic church has cleaned house and straightened the ship while monsters posing as teachers are preying on our children.

  It is not cleaned up yet. You are not done yet and the house is not cleaned nor the ship straightened. To many young boys still have problems because of former priests! The church need to complete this first. They can not move on until this is over!

Why doesn't the church just step in an clean up this problem? Do more children have to suffer?
