Authorities in Columbia County say a crash that killed a 23-year-old Baraboo man was caused then the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
The crash happened June 2 around 3 a.m. on Interstate 90. According to a release, the State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash. The vehicle lost control and rolled onto the shoulder causing two of the four occupants to be ejected. Twenty-three-year-old Eduardo Alfaro was killed in the wreck. Jesus Merino Peralta, 27, sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver, 27-year-old Mary Ann Blankenbeker and another passenger were not injured.
All of the occupants are from Baraboo.
According to online court records, currently no charges have been filed against Blankenbeker.
