UPDATE: Medford Convenience Store Owner Charged with Arson

The state Division of Criminal Investigation says the owner of the Main Street Convenience Store in Medford will be charged with arson after the building burned down Friday.

David J. Johnson was arrested Monday on one count of arson of a building.

Medford convenience store is a total loss after an early morning fire over the weekend.

According to a news release, an officer saw smoke coming from the Main Street Convenience Store, located at 223 S. Main Street, around 6:30 am on Friday.

The Medford Fire Department along with the Stetsonville Fire Department responded to the fire. A backhoe was used to pull down parts of the building to keep the fire from spreading to nearby businesses.

The business is a complete loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
