The Adams County Sheriff's Department says fire that destroyed a home on State Highway 13, south of Adams, is believed to have started in the home's chimney.
Just after 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, dispatch received a call reporting a fire at 2543 Highway 13 in the Township of Easton. The fire prompted a road closure as crews were fighting the fire.
The owner’s were not home at the time of the fire and the only injury was a loss of a pet.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Adams Fire Department, the Quincy Fire Department, the New Chester Fire Department and the Curtis Ambulance Service.
