Marathon County Sheriff Lieutenant: 64 Cattle Killed after barn fire

Firefighters from two area departments are at the scene of a barn fire in in the Town of Rietbrock in the northwestern part of Marathon County.

The farm is located on County Highway H north of Edgar. Crews have been on scene since around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Authorities believe at least 64 of the 65 cattle inside were killed.

County Road H from 23rd Street is closed to Townline Road due water from on the roads making travel unsafe.

A cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Marathon County Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Service was on scene, giving the firefighters hot food and drinks.
