UPDATE: Stevens Point Woman Sentenced for Role in Counterfeit Money Scheme

A Stevens Point woman will spend three years on probation for her role in a counterfeit money scheme.

Wanda Clark, 49, reached a plea deal with prosecutors in January. As results, two of her four forgery charges were dismissed.

Thursday in Portage County Court, Clark was also ordered to pay back the money to the businesses she scammed. That amount totals about $1,000.

Walter Wright, 37, was also convicted in connection to the crime. He was indicted with more serious charges . In January, he was sentenced to three years in prison and was ordered to pay $10,000 restitution.

Two people are behind bars accused of using and making counterfeit money in Stevens Point.

Walter Wright, 36, and Wanda Clark, 49, both of Stevens Point, are charged with forgery and possessing fake money.

According to a criminal complaint, the pair both used fake 50 dollar bills at Hardee's on Sept. 27th. Clark also tried using a fake 50 at O'Reilly Auto Parts and Wright, wearing a long wig, tried to use a fake 20 at Big Hunchies the same day.

When searched, police found a fake 50 on Wright. Police also found evidence of printing fake money at the pair's home, along with 12 more fake 50 dollar bills.
