A trial date has now been set for a Rusk County man accused of hitting two men with his vehicle, killing one, last November.

James Winchel, 42, is now charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and operating while intoxicated.

Deputies say two hunters were standing near County Line Road near Miller Ave. west of Gilman when a single northbound vehicle hit them. Juan Salinas, 52, of Roscoe, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened Nov. 29, 2013.

Fernando Salinas, 53, also of Roscoe, was initially listed in serious but stable condition at a Wausau hospital following the incident.

Winchel was also injured in the crash.

He remains behind bars in the Taylor County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.

A two day trial is expected to start Sept 30.
