One of two people arrested following a traffic stop in Merrill has pleaded not guilty to drug charges.
Steven Strom, 32, was the passenger in a vehicle stopped March 13 in Merrill. Police say the driver, Nacole Degner, 33, was impaired and had methamphetamine on her.
Police say a search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, packaged in manner consistent with drug distribution and several items of drug paraphernalia.
According to a press release, Strom had a loaded handgun and additional drug paraphernalia items.
Both are charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of THC. Denger is charged with possession of methamphetamine. Strom faces an additional charge of illegally possessing a firearm.
Degner is expected to reach a plea deal with prosecutors during her next court appearance July 29.
