The Wausau Lyric Choir has set the dates for their annual Christmas concert, "Christmas in the Southwest." Two performances will take place Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 406 Grant St., Wausau. The Saturday concert will be at 7:30 pm and the Sunday concert at 3 pm.
"Christmas in the Southwest" will feature Conrad Susa's "Carols and Lullabies - Christmas in the Southwest," a collection of traditional Spanish carols Susa arranged. The work pulls together 10 carols sung in Spanish and is accompanied by classical guitar, harp, and marimba.
The Wausau Lyric Choir is directed by Lucinda J. Thayer, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Past President of the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association. "I've put together a combination of 'old' and 'new' music selections for our Christmas concert," she said. "The 'new' is the 'Carols and Lullabies' by Conrad Susa, and the 'old' is a variety of selections from the folk tradition, spirituals, and Renaissance period.
Tickets for "Christmas in the Southwest" are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students and are available through the Performing Arts Foundation, 401 N. 4th St., Wausau, (715) 842-0988, and at the door.
