Early morning high winds are causing power outages to Wisconsin Public Service electric customers, primarily from the Eagle River and Wabeno areas north. The outages are the result of strong winds causing branches to break or trees falling onto power lines. As Tuesday afternoon, outages are at:

· Rhinelander- 1,460 customers

· Wabeno- 3,660 customers

· Minocqua - 470 customers

· Eagle River - 2,345 customers

Residents are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and to treat them as if they are energized. Do not attempt to clear downed trees from areas near power lines!

If you have an electric emergency, contact WPS at 800-450-7240. If you have a natural gas emergency, contact WPS at 800-450-7280. All other emergencies please call 911.
