Yup, it's that time of year again! The 5th annual Guys Who Grill was a huge success today. Close to 30 men were on their grills cooking up a storm.
"The whole community comes together to make it happen," said the executive director of the event, Ann Saris, "We have a handful that are actually chefs in town at different restaurants, but the majority of the guys here are guys who just know there way around a grill at home."
The YWCA in Wausau hosts the event every year, and all the proceeds made go to families served by the organization. The YWCA helps women with childcare, they also host book clubs, and offer fitness classes for families in need.
This was Mark Dolenshek's second year on the grill, and he loves it.
"It's something we look forward to every year. We start planning pretty soon after the last event," said Dolenshek.
There's no prize given to the best griller, but Saris said that doesn't stop the guys from having a little fun.
"It's not a competition at all, but bring 25 or 30 guys around grills and they take it upon themselves to try and out-do each other... and even out-do themselves."
The chefs really have fun with this event. There are all kinds of food out there for everyone to try. And if you missed today's event, they'll be back next year on the last Sunday in July.
