Two Merrill teens are charged with burglary and criminal damage to property after they're accused of breaking into a home.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman was sleeping on a couch when she notice two people inside the home attempting to steal the television. The suspects were arrested and identified as Michael Frederick and Jordan Kautz, both 17.
According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the 300 block of Cleveland Street around 2 a.m on September 15 for the report of a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived one of the homeowners had apprehended one of the suspects, but the other suspect reportedly fled. The second suspect, Frederick, was arrested a short time later at his house.
Frederick told investigators Kautz had been ripped off during a drug deal and the two entered the home looking for money or items of monetary value. According to the criminal complaint, the two broke a window to gain entry.
Fredrick faces an additional charge of obstructing an officer.
Both teens are free on signature bonds and will return to court September 26 for a clerical court appearance.
