A Dane County judge has denied a request to move the trials in the case of a 15-year-old Madison girl who was allegedly starved and tortured.
The Wisconsin State Journal (http://bit.ly/N41hSe ) reports that Circuit Judge Julie Genovese believes an impartial jury can be found in the county.
The teen wasted away to 68 pounds after her father and stepmother allegedly locked her in the basement and denied her food. They face charges of child abuse, child neglect and other counts.
The girl's stepbrother is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting her. He also faces trial.
Genovese also ruled Friday the three defendants may have separate trials.
The Associated Press is not naming the defendants to avoid identifying the girl.
The first of the three trials is expected to start in January.
