A Hatley teen accused of crashing his car and leaving the scene of accident while his 13-year-old sister remained pinned in the vehicle will spend one year on probation and must complete 25 hours of community service.

Deputies say on June 18, Devon Roth crashed his car on County Highway Y near Hatley and fled the scene of the accident on foot. Deputies later found him at a home in Hatley.

Roth, 18, is charged with hit-and-run, underage drinking and underage transportation of intoxication.

Three teens were in the vehicle when it flipped. Roth’s sister was taken by air ambulance to a Marshfield hospital. Another passenger, a 16-year-old boy was treated at a Wausau hospital for a skull fracture and other injuries. Another 16-year-old boy suffered only minor injuries.

Judge Jill Falstad said if Roth can stay out of trouble until he is 21-year-old, he may petition for the charge of hit-and-run to be expunged from his record.
