The leader of the Northwoods Patriots has announced she'll run against Democrat Jim Holperin in a recall election.

Kim Simac organized the effort to file a recall petition against Sen. Holperin for leaving the state to delay a vote on the bill that would strip collective bargaining rights from many state workers. She turned in more than 23,000 signatures.

The signatures have to be verified by state election officials. If they are approved, a recall election would be held in July.

Senator Holperin, 2 other Democrats and 6 Republicans are facing recall for their support or opposition to the collective bargaining bill.
