Investigators are still looking into what caused an LP tanker truck to catch fire, prompting the closure of one of the city's busiest highways.
The tanker fire was reported around 11:40 a.m. Friday. Both lanes of Highway 45 near Highway G south of Antigo were closed. The highway has since reopened.
The driver made it out of the truck and was not injured.
Because of the threat of an explosion crews let the fire burn out on its own then came back to clean up. The highway sustained some damage.
Pat Wright leaves near the scene was evacuated from her home. "I heard a pop and I ran to the window. Cars were stopping and I thought someone blew a tire. When I looked I could see this truck parked right in front of my house was burning,” she explained.
