A 27-year-old Wausau man charged with an August 3 shooting at a Rothschild bar will head to trial. Alex Hammoc remains behind bars on a $250,000 cash bond. He was arrested August 16 near Chicago, Ill. He was transported to the Marathon County jail late last month.
Hammoc is charged with 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and intentionally pointing a firearm at a person.
Police say the shooting happened in the parking lot of P.J.’s Log Jam in Rothschild. Police say during the incident, one round from a handgun was discharged hitting a 25-year-old man in the thigh. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. Police are still investigating a motive.
Two people, Eugene Higgins, 21, and Aljerrek White, 17, are both charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer. They're free on $450 cash bonds.
A future court date has not yet been set for Hammoc.
