A 22-year-old man is charged with 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon, and operating a firearm while intoxicated after police say he fired a gun three times in a neighborhood around 10 p.m. Saturday night.
A neighbor tells NewsChannel 7 she was outside smoking a cigarette, when she thought she initially heard firework. Tiffany Heiler said the bang was followed by two more, and she ran into her home to call police.
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Cherry Street on Wausau's northside. Police say they located Patrick Polar walking north on Cherry Street a short time later.
Officers also found bullet casing near Bos Creek Drive and N. 2nd Avenue.
According to court documents, the suspect, identified as Patrick Polar by police, admitted to firing the gun three times. At the time of his arrest, he said he was “sorry” and “didn't want to hurt anyone”.
Polar remains in the Marathon County Jail on a $3,000 cash bond.
Polar is expected to learn if his case will head to trial during a hearing on May 21.
