For the last week of our breakfast series "Sunrise-Side Up" we visited Emy J's Cafe in Stevens Point.
Emy J's Cafe stresses being environmentally friendly and strives to use local produce whenever possible. You won't find any styrofoam in the cafe, everything is compostable and they use solar panels for energy efficiency.
As far as the food goes, they have become a gluten-free, vegan "hot spot" and many of their dishes reflect the customer's dietary needs. Shelly Platten, cafe manager, made us some of the go-to dishes people order.
The Greek Goddess was made for us this morning as a vegan dish with tofu, no cheese and featured gluten-free toast. The Huevos Rancheros features local, fresh eggs and even comes with a side salad that features locally grown lettuce. The Spunky Monkey Pancakes are a fan favorite served with in-house made almond butter, granola and bananas.
A new Sunday brunch menu is in the works at Emy J's Cafe, and there is a whole side of the restaurant dedicated to espresso, ice cream, smoothies and fresh baked goods.
