Summer Business Boom in Northwoods

Tourism is a big part of the summer in the Northwoods and this holiday weekend is no exception. But it's not just visitors that are enjoying the nice weather -- businesses are enjoying it too.

Tomahawk's Main Street is frequently referred to as having a postcard quality to it, and that charm brings visitors to the area every summer.
Those visitors bring an economic boom as well. Stores like "Sew Pieceful Quilting" are seeing big sales.

"One of our big events is having shop hops between different quilt stores and it brings a lot of people from out of the area," says store owner Marie Daigle.

The store, in its third year, has had a strong summer with sales continually increasing. Daigle says her customer base continues to expand.

Her favorite thing about working in downtown Tomahawk is the comaraderie between businesses.
