Students at Wausau West got a crash course on the dangers of driving and texting. Knowing teens, West and an organization called Peer Awareness brings kids a first hand look at the dangers of texting and driving.
With the “It Can Wait” campaign, students took a ride in the aware text simulator, a simulator that creates a real environment while learning outside of class.
Maureen Pilsner, officer with the Wausau Police Department said, “It’s a fun way to have class. A lot of kids don’t understand how hard it is to drive and text at the same time. We’re giving them an opportunity to see what happens.”
In seconds, teens lost control of their vehicle while texting, showing that distracted driving can have fatal impacts…
The nation wide campaign travels throughout the country, giving kids the opportunity to understand the effects of texting and driving.
