SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- State Rep. Duey Stroebel is personally funding most of his campaign for the Wisconsin congressional seat now held by retiring Republican Rep. Tom Petri.
A campaign finance report filed Tuesday shows Stroebel has raised a little more than $26,000 for the 6th District race in east-central Wisconsin. But he has loaned his campaign more than $340,000.
Stroebel has significant real estate and business holdings.
His campaign spent more than $190,000 during the quarter that ended June 30, leaving it with about $177,000 in the bank.
Stroebel faces a four-way Republican primary on Aug. 12 primary. The winner will challenge Democratic Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris in the November general election.
