A deputy unwittingly stumbled upon a stolen car after finding it on "E" and abandoned on State Road 64 and US Highway 51 in Lincoln County late last month. The sheriff's department says when the deputy ran the license plates it came up stolen out of Lafayette, Indiana.
As the deputy was waiting for the wrecker a business owner called the sheriff’s office and reported two people acting suspicious, looking to sell things for gas money. The Lafayette Police confirmed the pair were the suspects in car theft and both admitted to the deputy they took the car.
Christina Wireman, 23, and Brandon Hoskins, 21, were brought to the Lincoln County Jail. Wireman reportedly told deputies she took the car as revenge because the alleged victim was a bad dad.
Wireman is charged with driving a vehicle without the owner's consent. Hoskins is expected to face a similar charge.
The pair is being held on cash bonds as authorities in Indiana determine charges and possible extradition back to that state to face charges for stealing the car.
