The 20th Annual MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) Blood Drive is going strong in Merrill at Kitchenette Park. You have until 5 p.m. Thursday to participate.
Organizers are expecting over 200 people to donate. They say blood donations decrease in the summer when school is out and when people take summer vacations.
"People in hospitals routinely need blood transfusions for surgery, illness, accidents, traumas and things like that," says Angela Brumm, of the Community Blood Center. "We constantly need to be having a good blood supply going into the hospitals."
Healthy adults who are at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) and at least 110 pounds can donate whole blood every 56 days.
