Stevens Point Police Looking for Info About Attempted Abduction

The Stevens Point Police Department is looking for people who may have witnessed an attempted abduction Sunday at Pfiffner Park.

Police believe attendees of Jazz Fest may seen something suspicious.

According to a press release, around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, officers responded to the report of a possible abduction of an 8-year-old girl. The girl said a man called her by name as she was playing on the playground and told her the girl's mother was looking for her.

The girl said the man began to escort her away from the playground when she began yelling for her mother. The man told the girl to sit on a bench as he need to use the bathroom. He did not return.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 30s, approximately 5'6 to 6'. He has a thin build, short brown hair and was wearing glasses.
