A 57-year-old Stevens Point man has been charged with his 9th OWI offense, after investigators say he admitted to taking a variety of pills including pain and sleeping medication.
According to court documents, an officer from the Stevens Point Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Stanley Street and Wilshire Boulevard around 11:19 p.m. on July 7.
A woman says she was driving east on Stanley when she was struck by another vehicle.
Police say the other driver, Alan Stricker initially said he was not the driver, telling police it was another man. Stricker reportedly told police the driver left the scene on foot following the collison. According to court documents, neither driver, nor Stricker's passenger were injured, but the other driver did say she was 28 weeks pregnant.
Investigators say Stricker previous OWI conviction was in 2008. At the time of the July crash he was off probation, but failed to get his license reinstated.
Stricker is expected to be charged with 9th OWI, operating while revoked, and obstructing an officer.
He's free on a $2,500 signature bond.
