Stevens Point Jogger Escapes after being Grabbed by Man

The Stevens Point Police Department is urging joggers and runners to stay in groups and well lit areas after three suspicious incidents that have occurred in the last six months.

According to a news release from the police department, on Sunday around 3 p.m., a teenage girl was jogging near Reserve Street and Maria Drive when she was approached by a man asking for directions.

The girl says the man grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her toward his vehicle. The girl was able to pull her arm away and run away.

The suspect is described as white man in his 50s. He has a stocky build, approximately 200lbs and a gray beard. The vehicle is described as a light blue or gray car with a red emblem on the front grill area.

Police say this description matches the suspect in two similar incident in the area, one occurred at Iverson Park on Oct. 1 2012, and another on Prentice Street on Dec. 6, 2012.

If you have any information about these incidents call 715-346-1518. Or, to remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward, contact Portage County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-346-6600.
