A lot of farmers are busying this time of year, but it's important that they don't forget out staying safe.
Heather Schlesser, the UW-Extension Dairy Agent, stopped by NewsChannel 7 at Noon on Thursday to give advice on how to stay safe. You can learn more by watching the video above.
Some of the recommendations include wearing a seatbelt, and avoiding operating tractors near ditches, embankments and holes. Don't forget to watch where you're going, especially at row ends, on roads and around trees.
You should also install roll over protection. The National Farm Safety Center has a rebate program right now on that, just call 1-800-ROPSR4U.
The Marathon County UW-Extension does have the resources to help train you on skid steer use and animal handling. All you have to do is call 715-261-1230 for more information.
