With cooler weather on its way, many of us are starting to get sick. Flu season is already underway, and health experts say there are steps you and your kids can take to stay healthy.
Schools are notorious places for germs, since many kids don't wash their hands enough or don't know the best way to stay germ free. A public health nurse in Marathon County says the best way to keep your kids healthy at school, starts with healthy habits at home.
"Make sure they're keeping their hands away from their face, fingers out of the mouth," said Carrie Sickler, "and try to wash their hands before they have a snack or before they eat lunch."
Sickler says putting hand sanitizer in their backpacks for school is a good idea so they can stay clean if soap and water are not available.
