State Rep. Tom Tiffany is entering the race for the Wisconsin's 12th district senate seat.
The seat is being vacated by retiring Democratic Sen. Jim Holperin.
Rep. Tiffany, a Republican from Hazelhurst, made the announcement Wednesday at his business in Rhinelander.
Rep. Tiffany currently serves in the 35th assembly district.
Tiffany said, "If elected, I will work tirelessly to build a better tomorrow for the people of northern Wisconsin.”
Senator Holperin is stepping down, saying he wants to focus on other things.
