FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A lengthy standoff between Fond du Lac County SWAT team members and a man armed with a handgun ended with his arrest Tuesday.
The nearly 10-hour incident began when a woman called for help about 10 p.m. Monday and said the man had fired a gun inside their home after the two argued. Sheriff Mick Fink says the woman was able to flee the home during the night and tenants in the other half of the duplex were evacuated.
The 52-year-old man was arrested about 8:30 Tuesday morning.
Mick tells The Fond du Lac Reporter that the death of a Fond du Lac police officer who was shot during a standoff March 20 was top of mind for the deputies covering this event.
