The Marathon County Sheriff's Department says a Spencer Police Officer involved in a crash in a department vehicle has been cited with deviating from the designated lane.
The Marathon County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Pacific Ave. and East Clark St. in the Village of Spencer. The Spencer officer was dispatched to a reported injury crash on State Highway 13 in the Village of Unity to assist Sheriff's Deputies when he was involved in the crash.
The other involved vehicle began to move from it's stopped position (facing eastbound) on East Main St. Into the intersection of East Main St. at State Highway 13 as the Spencer Officer approached, but stopped in the southbound lanes. Investigators say the officer, who was northbound on State Highway 13, took evasive action to avoid anticipated collision in northbound lanes of State Highway 13; however, collision occurred in the southbound lanes.
Both involved drivers were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital by Spencer Fire Department ambulance to receive medical treatment for non life threatening injuries.
