Mike Zynda is not only the Senior Vice Commander of the Plover VFW, but also very involved in countless veteran organizations including the American Legion, Polish Legion of American Veterans, AMVETS, and Disabled American Veterans.
He began handing out stars from retired American flags about two years ago to honor veterans and their families, something the Plover VFW now joins in on as well. After speaking with him, I learned that his son is actually the biggest inspiration for the special stars.
Mike told me the story of how it all began and why it is important to remind those who have served that they are not forgotten.
