Alleged Victim Mistakes Suspected Burglars for his own Children, Tells them to go to Bed

Two suspects in a series of overnight burglaries in Adams County this summer have now been formally charged. A third suspect, a 15-year-old male, is expected to be charged in juvenile court.

Luis Alfaro, 17, Harley Dalke, 19, and the 15-year-old are accused of entering 13 different properties between July 24 and July 25.

Alfaro is free on a $25,000 signature bond. Dalke is free on a $2,000 signature bond after putting up $500 in cash.

A terms of their bond, both teens must comply with a curfew set by Adams County Judge Pollex.

Portage County Assistant District Attorney will David Knaapen is prosecuting the case as some of the alleged victims worked for the Adams County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators have released more details about an overnight crime spree that resulted in 35 different charges for two Friendship teens.

Luis Alfaro, 17, and Harley Dalke, 19, are accused of entering 13 different properties between July 24 and July 25.

Adam County Sheriff Sam Wollin said the teens looked for cars or homes that were unlocked. Sheriff Wollin said in one case the homeowner woke up to find the teens in his hallway, but thought they were his own children and yelled at them to get back to bed.

Sheriff Wollin said stolen items include jewelry and electronics. The Sheriff said some of the items have been recovered.

The Adams County District Attorney will not be handling the case, due to a conflict of interest. Portage County Assistant District Attorney will David Knaapen will be prosecuting the case when the teens are formally charged on October 29.

A Portage County County prosecutor will handle an Adams County theft and burglary case after the District Attorney in Adams County could not take the case because of a conflict of interest.

Thirty-five charges of theft, burglary, and criminal damage to property were filed October 18 in Adams County against Luis Alfaro, 17, and Harley Dalke, 19, both of Friendship. Online court records list the offense dates as July 24 and July 25.

Online court records list Portage County Assistant District Attorney David Knaapen as the prosecutor.

Both suspects are expected to be formally charged October 29. More details about the case are expected to be released following the court appearances.
