This weekend, the sounds of revving snowmobiles are filling the air of north central Wisconsin.
It was the 23rd annual Wausau Grass Drags. There were snowmobile races, tractor and ATV pulls, as well lawnmower races.
The event is put on by the Trail Mates snowmobile club, and the proceeds allow them to enjoy their sleds all winter long.
Chariman of the Wausau Snowmobile Grass Drags, Randy Thurs says, “All of the money from this goes to our snowmobiling club to purchase grooming equipment. Grooming equipment is very expensive. Typically it cost around $200,000. The money all goes to purchase new equipment."
Thurs says more than 8,000 people made their way out to the races throughout the weekend. Each winner in the different categories won a trophy. The club says this year's turnout was their best yet.
