No one can deny communication skills are important, but building those skills starts when you're young.
Forensics students at Northland Lutheran High School in Kronenwetter were honored in a big way recently, when they took home the "Excellence in Speech" state championship award out of 356 schools in Madison.
Perhaps the most astonishing thing is that Northland Lutheran only has 86 students.
"It takes a lot of planning, it takes a lot of organization and you have to have the right drive in what you're doing," says head coach Nate Lauber.
Students compete in categories such as poetry, storytelling, and moments in history.
"Every aspect of life involves some kind of comunication," says team member Maarten Colby. "This is a great and fun way to be able to practice those skills."
