Two people are expected to be charged with child neglect after a three-year-old girl was found alone outside with dog.
According to the Merrill Police Department, an officer responded to the home on Friday, March 22 a the complaint of small child outside. The girl told the officer she was trying to get the dog back in the house. The officer entered the home after he was unable to get anyone to come to the door.
The officer said the house was a mess and dog feces was on the floor.
A 17-year-old male was found sleeping in the home. Drug paraphernalia items were found next to him. He told police he had smoked meth that morning. In addition to the child neglect charge, he's charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation.
The child's 21-year-old mother was not home at the time, but will also be charged.
