A 38-year-old Birnamwood man is behind bars on a $30,000 cash bond after being charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography, and one count of child sexual exploitation after he allegedly shared downloaded child porn files with other people online.
An investigation started in December 2013 when investigators from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department began the process to track down a user sharing files of child pornography. Investigators had to subpoena phone and internet records through the Wittenberg Telephone Company, Charter, and Newcore Wireless. On July 24, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for the home of Christopher Ehlenfeld after an I.P. address linked the files to his internet connection.
A judge has scheduled an adjourned initial appearance for August 11, giving Ehlenfeld enough time to obtain an attorney.
