After serving a partial term in the State Senate, Sen. Jerry Petrowski (R-Stettin) announced Friday that he will seek re-election in the 29th Senate District.

"By working together, we have accomplished a great deal over the past two years," Senator Petrowski stated. "However, there is still a lot to achieve. We need to continue to focus on keeping the jobs we have and do everything we can to create additional jobs. We need to continue to balance the state budget and protect our taxpayers by requiring government to live within its means and by finding ways to do more with less. We need to ensure that our families receive the health care they need and guarantee that our children receive the best in education."

He was originally elected to the State Assembly in 1998 and the State Senate in 2012.

Senator Petrowski currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Transportation, Public Safety and Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, Vice Chair of the Senate Economic Development and Local Government Committee, and is a voting member of other committees including the Senate Agriculture, Small Business, and Tourism Committee, the Senate Financial Institutions and Rural Issues Committee, and the Joint Legislative Council. He also serves on the Governor’s Council on Highway Safety, Transportation Projects Commission, Rustic Roads Board, Scenic Byway Advisory Committee, Council on Military and State Relations, the State Council on Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children and the UW-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources Advisory Board.

The 29th Senate district consists of Marathon, Taylor, Rusk and Sawyer Counties along with parts of Wood and Clark Counties.
