A 58-year-old Friendship man convicted of robbing the Grand Marsh State Bank in July 2013, will spend nine years in federal prison.

Randy Glenn Paulson reached a plea in October.

According to the criminal complaint, Paulson admitted to a friend that had robbed the bank. Paulson was arrested nine days later in Illinois.

A 58-year-old Friendship man convicted of robbing the Grand Marsh Bank at gun point July 3 has reached a plea deal with prosecutors and is scheduled to be sentenced in January.

According to the criminal complaint, Randy Paulson admitted to a friend that had robbed the bank. Paulson was arrested nine days later in Illinois.

According to court documents Paulson said he was in trouble with the Mexican Drug Cartel and the cartel had threatened to hurt his family over drug debt, citing a motive for the crime. Paulson had previously been arrested in Texas and is accused of have 150 lbs of marijuana in his possession.

Paulson's is scheduled to be sentenced January 7, 2014 in Federal Court. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

A 58-year-old Friendship man is charged with federal bank robbery after he's accused of robbing the Grand Marsh State Bank on July 3.

The complaint alleges that Randy Glenn Paulson entered the bank armed with a handgun which he pointed at the tellers and announced “this is a robbery.” After obtaining cash from the teller drawers he approached a customer and demanded her car keys. The customer did not respond and a teller volunteered her car keys which Paulson took and left the bank.

Paulson was arrested in Illinois on July 11, 2013, on the federal bank robbery charge and is currently in custody.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, a 3-year period of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department says the search continues for the suspect in a bank robbery Wednesday morning.

The suspect displayed a gun and demanded cash along one of the teller's car keys.

The suspect acted alone and no one was injured during the incident.

The sheriff's department says the bank did have surveillance video.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office is searching for robbery suspect.

According to an email alert from the department, around 9:20 Wednesday morning the Grand Marsh Bank in Grand Marsh robbed.

The suspect is described at a white man, wearing a blue hoodie and jeans. He was wearing glasses. He's believed to be taller than 6'. He has a slender build and is estimated to weigh around 190 lbs.

Authorities say the suspect is driving a white 2010 Kia Opitma LX, bearing Wisconsin license plate UBV-759.
