According to County Administrator, Brad Karger, Scott Parks as been appointed as the new Marathon County Sheriff. Parks has been with the department for over 30 years and has served as Chief Deputy since 2007.
Governor Scott Walker selected Parks as the replacement for Randy Hoenisch, who retired earlier this year amid reports he spent little time in the office. Twenty-one people applied for the job.
The Governor released this statement today:
"I am confident that Mr. Parks will serve the citizens of Marathon County well. In addition, his professional experiences should allow for an easy transition in the office"
The term will last until January 2015, which would have been the end of Hoenisch's elected term.
Parks is set to start at his new post May 9th.
